Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #102

www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

October 2nd, 2006

Quilting Friends,

I haven’t shared this information in a while, but in this age of worrying about Identity Theft and credit report mistakes, I’m a big fan of turning OFF the flow of unsolicited credit applications in the following way:

To opt out of credit card offers/apps, for all three bureaus, call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT (1-888-567-8688).  Realize you will need to give out your SSN here, but its OK to do in this arena.

A student’srequest:

Question regarding applique/hand quilting lessons for two of us who live in the Boynton Beach/Lake Worth area.  Two shops have recently closed in this area making our search that much more difficult.  We cannot seem to find anyone who is willing to give us several lessons in our home(s).  We both know how to use a sewing machine and can do hand sewing, but really do not know much about the disciplines mentioned above.  We have some idea, but really need direction.

Can you help us?

Thank you.

Mindy Gross  (Marv144@aol.com)

As always, if you have email changes, drop me a line at subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com.

RETREAT & ANNUAL MEETING at LAKE YALE

********* you do not have to be a member to attend. ***********

November 17, Friday 2006 arrive at noon
Depart  Sunday, November 19

What is fun, fun and more fun than you can stand?
Sewing with friends, laughing, eating and not cooking or cleaning up, sleeping over to sew more the next day, eating tons more food with no cooking or clean up, finishing a project that you've been working on for years-or starting a new one and getting it done (just in time for the holidays!), sleeping over again, show and tell to die for, more food with no cooking or clean up (you just can't beat that) and memories to last for years! (Some of our members are pretty funny--and sewing clever too.) We'll have door prize drawings, a fat quarter give away, several demos of easy-to-make gift items and all kinds of things to keep us busy during sewing breaks.

Where is Lake Yale? Near Leesburg!. It's a beautiful country setting in Lake County with huge oak trees a lake, pool and beautiful sights. Everything is right there, no driving once you get there (except maybe the quilt shop!)! You can sew like crazy or sew a little and relax with quilting friends. Just a short walk to your room at night. Check it out at:  www.lybcc.com

How about that LOW, LOW cost! Two nights sleep over (Friday night and Saturday night), a beautiful sewing room that opens really early and closes really late so you can sew till you drop for 2 days, and five meals, served cafeteria style (also soup & salad bar AND dessert bar!).

How much do you think all this would cost? Hundreds? Ha! Not for us quilters that love a bargain (so we can spend more on fabric). It's all inclusive for only $120.00 per member, two to a room ($130 non-members). There are a limited number of single rooms for $170. Bring your friends...this is open to everyone!

Rooms must be reserved by SEPT. 16th so send in your registration form as soon as possible!
