Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #119

www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

May 2, 2008

Quilting Friends,

Did you know that my website, www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com not only lists all upcoming quilt events in Florida, but also contains the most updated list of Florida quilt shops AND Florida quilt guilds?  I’m not tooting my horn (not very good at it anyway), but I do want you to be aware that it is a great service…I use it all the time!  LOL.

I don’t know if any of your new year’s resolutions are green, as in saving the environment, but just in case they are, one of my resolutions is to share with you some of my favorite green living tips.  Feel free to share yours too for future newsletters!  If we don’t start changing the way we simply live, there won’t be much left of this earth for our grandchildren.  That is a given.

Tip #5

OK, when I first saw Crocs (the plastic shoe), I have to admit, I kept thinking “who in their right mind would wear plastic shoes?”.  But since I bought a pair to wear in the garden (easy to hose off), I can see the appeal.  They are comfortable.  And cute.  At least my Mary Jane versions are.  I’m converted!  When we went on a Caribbean cruise recently, they worked well at the beach, surprise, surprise.

I just found out that they are recyclable too.  If your treads are worn out, the Crocs company will take them back, melt them down and make new Crocs.  Not only that, but the new ones will go straight to people in need.  How cool is that?  Check it out at www.SolesUnited.com

Bonus Tip: My friends make fun of me when I tell them I only like right hand turns when I drive.  I try to organize my errands so I’m only turning right.  Well, ha! I saw an article the other day that UPS created software to change all their routes to include only right turns when possible.  They saved 3 million gallons of gas and shaved 30 million miles off deliveries in 2007.  Moral of that story: save time, gas and be safer by cutting down on your left turns.

As always, if you have email changes, let me know:subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com
