Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #121

www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

July 5, 2008

Quilting Friends,

Not much to report this month; I’m doing a lot of reading and quilting (yay!) since the kids don’t have to be taxied around so much during the summer.  It is truly amazing how many projects I find stashed into every corner of my sewing room.  Not that I’m actually making much process on those projects, but hey, I can dream!

FYI, there will also be a big 75% off the sale bin at Fireside Quilts in Sanford this Saturday (July 5), and then a big 30% off everything at Busy Fingers in Longwood on the 12th, if you can hang on that long.  Support our local independent quilt stores, or you’ll be shopping for all your quilting supplies at you-know-where…and that is not a good option!

I don’t know if any of your new year’s resolutions are green, as in saving the environment, but just in case they are, one of my resolutions is to share with you some of my favorite green living tips.  Feel free to share yours too for future newsletters!  If we don’t start changing the way we simply live, there won’t be much left of this earth for our grandchildren.  That is a given.

Tip #7

From e.e. christian:  I discovered that the blackout lining I used to make new window coverings this summer kept out so much radiant heat from the sun when I was gone during the day that the house stayed much cooler while running the a/c less.... don't let all the sun in while you're gone all day and you'll use less energy!   (of course, this works well for those of us with tiny houses and less than 10 windows to draw the shades on....)

happy quilting!
~~e.e. Christian
