Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #123

www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

September 1, 2008

Quilting Friends,

I’ve been finishing quilts this summer ( I love that word...finishing...)  now that my quilting machine is up and running.  Check them out at the bottom of my Gallery page: http://www.floridaquiltnetwork.com/pictures.html

Remember the “quilted car” that was showing up at various quilt shows a few years ago?  Here is a new take on that idea:

http://www.internationalfibercollaborative.com/index.html

I don’t know if any of your new year’s resolutions are green, as in saving the environment, but just in case they are, one of my resolutions is to share with you some of my favorite green living tips.  Feel free to share yours too for future newsletters!  If we don’t start changing the way we simply live, there won’t be much left of this earth for our grandchildren.  That is a given.

Tip #9

Here’s an interesting and easy concept: if we all DECREASE the margins of our word processed documents, we’ll save paper without even trying! Go to www.changethemargins.com to give it a try.

As always, if you have email changes, let me know:subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

KAFFE FASSETT COMING TO SUNSHINE SEWING COMPANY

On October 19, 20, and 21, 2008, Kaffe Fassett, internationally known for the spectacular use of design and color in quilts, will be visiting Sunshine Sewing Company, Margate, FL and be presenting a lecture and two workshops.

The workshops, on Sunday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 21, from 10 am to 4 pm, are entitled "Diamond Designs from Kaleidoscope of Quilts". The lecture on Monday, October 20, is called "Kaleidoscope of Color" and runs from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.  The workshops are $150.00 and lecture is $30.00; both are $175.00.  Fassett will do a book signing after the lecture and workshops and cameras are encouraged.  The workshop on Sunday is sold out and we have limited space in the other workshop and lecture.

Kaffe Fassett, known for his bold and vivid sense of color, has an incredibly loyal following in the international knitting, needlecraft, and quilting worlds.  Described as one of the foremost experts on the subject of color in design, Fassett wows audiences with an almost evangelical way of speaking about how craft impacts one's life and influences creativity.  Fassett has a flair for encouraging others to capture the individual inspiration that he knows they possess.  He is unparalleled in his ability to make his audiences realize their potential to "create something truly beautiful and life-enhancing."  All of his students walk away invigorated, seeing things they haven't before and thereby changing the way they look at color forever, in their work and in their surroundings.

Please call Sunshine Sewing if you wish to participate:  954-971-4810.
