Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #179
www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com
August 5, 2013

Quilting Friends,

My husband recently had some down time (between careers, actually) and decided to update my FQN website.  Hoo boy, it needed it.  You may not see too many differences, but we were using 10 year old software to update the website, among other things.

The most exciting new feature, though, is the Search box in the upper right corner of every webpage.  You can search on anything at all, and it will look across the entire website, including every newsletter all the way back to 1999. Go ahead and try, I’ll wait right here.

He happened to look for ‘chocolate’ and found three pages of results. That’s ok, quilting and chocolate go well together /g/.

My other big project this summer was to put some of my quilts and bags onto Etsy, which is an online shop for handmade items.  You may know that I teach quilting.  Well, my class samples are taking over my house. I have piles in every room, in every closet, everywhere.  Time to find new homes for some of these treasures.

So if you’re in the market for a quilt, bag, gift, etc, please take a look.  Everything in the ‘Pink Pig Productions’ shop is one-of-a-kind, well-made, and made with high quality fabric.

And best of all, a shopping coupon:  get 10% off your purchase in my Etsy Store by using the coupon ‘MJIFQN’.  Enjoy shopping and thanks in advance!

QUILT RETREAT IN COCOA BEACH

I would like to invite you to attend our 2nd annual Babes on the Beach retreat in Cocoa Beach, FL on November 8, 9, and 10, 2013.  Mary and Barb, the sisters from Me and My Sister Designs, will be our instructors for the weekend.

We will begin the retreat on Friday with a private luncheon held in our store here on Merritt Island.  The fun continues as we move on to the International Palms Resort where you can check into your room and enjoy the beach or pool until dinner time.  At the sit down dinner, the sisters will give us a wonderful trunk show and we are hoping that you will bring some show and tell so we can all be inspired.  There will be time to get your machines up and running Friday night so first thing in the morning you can begin sewing!

Saturday will be filled with sewing one of the Me and My Sister’s newest designs.  Believe me it’s gorgeous!  We will once again provide a yummy lunch and because we want you to enjoy our area, you will be on your own for dinner.  There are many restaurants to choose from within walking distance and a lot more if you want to drive only a few minutes away.  If you don’t want to stop sewing you can certainly stay put and work on your quilt.

There will be a second, fun project on Sunday and you can continue to sew until you need to leave or the hotel kicks us out in mid to late afternoon!  We will be providing you a box lunch.

The cost of this fun filled weekend is $395.00 and that of course includes kits for both the projects.  There will be lots of give a ways and laughter during the event as well!  The hotel has given our retreaters a special rate of $89.00 for double occupancy which includes the buffet breakfast for two.  Please contact International Palms hotel at 1-800-206-2747 and use the code SEW2 for your reservation.

The Sew Central number is 321-338-2959.  Space for this event is limited.  Call us early to reserve your spot!  A minimum deposit of $175.00 is required to reserve a seat in the classroom. Payment in full is required no later than October 1, 2013.

Can’t wait to see you at the beach!
