Quilting Friends,

There are a couple of things I want to highlight this month.  If you’re in Central Florida, consider attending an upcoming workshop  with Florida Cabin Fever Quilt Guild.  The class is this Saturday…see below!

Also, maybe you’ve heard of the ginormous Shop Hop happening in Central Florida this summer:  30 days, 39 shops, lots of prizes…see below for the details.  Here are two links to this shop hop: floridashophops.com/ or www.sewing.net/events.html.

Ever wanted to try making some wearable art at all?  Well, here we go!  In this class, we will be learning how to create a beautiful vest using the pattern of your choice.  The photo shown here is using men's ties, but that is only one of the techniques that will be taught in this class.  You can use the ties or any other type of fabric or a combination of both.  It is the techniques that we will learn which make it so unique.  Michelle also knows quite the thing or two about embellishments, so bring your ideas and questions and be ready for a day full of creativity!

Michelle Mitchell and Textural Embellishments

Lecture:      May 5th, 2014 at Marks Street Senior Rec Center
Meeting starts at 6:30pm  Lecture at 7:15pm
Guests Welcome!

Michelle Mitchell began sewing in the seventh grade and discovered quilting in 1979.  She combined the quilting with her garment and home dec sewing and soon became an award winning designer and teacher.  Her list of awards is too numerous to showcase here, but includes AQS/Hobbs Bonded Fiber Fashion Shows, Bernina Fashion Show garments and many other.  She began teaching wearable art and embellishment techniques in 1999 and has developed a line of patterns for turning everyday sweatshirts into a one of a kind creation.  Her patterns can be used for all sewing levels.
