Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #235
www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com
May 9, 2018

Quilting Friends,

Its been a busy month here in the Ibarguen household: we are in the process of building our ‘forever home’ in Maitland, but since it’s a seller’s market, we’ve decided to sell our Altamonte Springs home NOW, and move into an apartment near the new home site.  Yep, I know, two moves is painful.  But on the positive side, we are REALLY enjoying the apartment, and this gives us TWO chances to purge and simplify as we pack.  Since I’ve been presenting and teaching at lots of Florida guild meetings lately, they have been the recipient of many boxes of treasures from the depths of my sewing room.  Win, win! (All that to say, if you're wondering why this missive comes at you a few days later than usual...its for good reason.)

For those lucky enough to attend a Teddy Pruitt presentation in the past, you'll be happy to know she's back on the trail, happy to visit your guild or club. Check it out!

If you’re a fairly new reader of this newsletter, you may not know that the Calendar page on the website is a quick way to view upcoming events all over the state.  Give it a look-see.
Happy Quilting,
      Mary-Jeanine

PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.

TEDDY PRUETT IS BACK!!

After a two year hiatus, Teddy Pruett has decided to hit the road again!  She is offering three great new trunk show lectures with stacks of real quilts.  If your guild has heard Teddy speak, you know you are in for a real treat.  If you haven't seen her, you don't know what you are missing!  Guild program chairmen, take note!  Details available on her website, www.teddypruett.com
FROM SUBLIME TO RIDICULOUS:  VARIATIONS ON A THEME
Trunk show illustrating exciting ways to venture from the mundane.  Teddy will share a traditional quilt followed by one in the same pattern that's a little out of the box or unexpected and yet another one that blows the box completely out of the water!  Many of the non-traditonal examples are Teddy's own national award winning artworks.  Audience participation is always welcomed!
SOUTHERN STITCHES AND NORTHERN NEEDLES
Teddy's 26 year career in quilt history and her prized location in Florida, working with quilts from all over the United States, has placed her in a unique position to understand the differences evidenced in quilts of the North and South. This trunk show will feature quilts that illustrate cultural and regional variations, with explanation of why they exist.  Quilts, history, trivia, what more can you ask for?  Enlightenment!  Get it here!
STRINGY THINGIES
String quilts are the ultimate in "waste not, want not" efforts.  The smallest leftover bits and pieces from dressmaking or quilting  - strings - can be transformed into glorious new quilts.  Trunk show of vintage quilts and tops from Teddy's collection, showcasing everything from utilitarian to spectacular.
