Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #242

December 8, 2018

Quilting Friends,

Here’s a little Project Linus quilt I made as a jelly roll race.  The colors didn’t distribute quite as I’d hoped, and it came out pretty ho-hum.  So I pulled out my trusty Accuquilt dies and created a bunch of circle and leaf shapes which translated into flowers.  Adding the fusible to the fabric before doing the die-cutting makes it easy-peasy to place and iron down. Now the quilt has a little sparkle!

Do you know of any organization that is collecting quilts for Hurricane Michael victims?  If so, please let me know ASAP.

In case you missed my last note, next month FQN will be celebrating 20 YEARS !!  Yep, our first Florida Quilt Network newsletter was sent out to maybe 20 or so people in January 1999.  I was simply looking for a way to connect Florida quilt guilds together so we could share national teachers when they came to town.  FQN has grown since then, of course, publicizing all kinds of quilting events in Florida, as well as (on the website) detailing quilt guilds, quilt shops and longarm businesses in Florida.

You can read any of the past 240 newsletters in the archives.

I’m very proud of what FQN has become with your help.    We’re hovering at about 4000 interested readers, who hail from all over the world, but mostly in Florida.  All expenses come out of my pocket, but the ads for machines that run occasionally in the newsletters help with those expenses.  If you’d like to help with those costs, ask for my paypal account name.
If you’re a fairly new reader of this newsletter, you may not know that the Calendar page on the website is a quick way to view upcoming events all over the state.  Give it a look-see.
Happy Quilting,
      Mary-Jeanine
PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.
