Quilting Friends,

An interesting commission finish this month.  A friend reads ‘Llama Llama Red Pajama” to her granddaughter every night and wanted a quilt made like the one in the book.  And thena smaller matching quilt for the American Girl doll.  It was amazing how close I got to the colors in the book…and almost ALL from my stash!  I put soft minky on the back and no batting.  I hope she likes it!

A few months ago I ran a post from someone who was giving away their grandmother’s sewing room.  I know she got many responses, and I received two responses as well.  I was able to help those two people with bags of fabric and books that were given to me. I often get calls/emails from people trying to find a home for a family member’s sewing stash.  I do have a list of local ‘charity sewists’ but often those people already have plenty to work with. So I thought I could keep a list of people who are looking for stash.  Maybe they are a new sewist/quilter with a small budget, maybe they are looking to make charity items.

If that describes you or someone you know, please send me an email with your name and contact information, I’ll keep you on a list for the next time I get an offer of sewing items.  I live in Central Florida, so if you are not in this area, let me know how far you’re willing to travel to pick up from the giver.

Just one little way to share the wealth!  As we age and declutter, maybe we can bless and encourage someone just getting started with an instant mini-stash.

You may not know that the Calendar page on the website is a quick way to view upcoming events all over the state.  Give it a look-see.

Happy Quilting,

      Mary-Jeanine

PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.
