Quilting Friends,

A colorful quilt with black and white stripes

Description automatically generated(click to enlarge)

My new favorite quilt, I'm calling it Pickup Sticks.  Its actually hanging in my studio while the other one has been sent to South Florida to sell seats in a class next month.

I talked about Pickup Sticks during my latest video: Tips, Tools & Techniques Club at The Sewing Studio.

Announcement: If you’re interested in sending a quilt or two to Hurricane Helene survivors, here are some ideas.

Announcement #2: I don't mention it too often, but I do have an Etsy shop with lots of beautiful quilts and other handmade items. I'd love for you to take a look!

PS: if you're in the market for a machine but the ones highlighted below don't work for you, keep reading for the "Still Available" section, where I quick-list previous ads.

Happy Quilting,

 Mary-Jeanine

PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.

HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS

·         A list of  people and places doing good work:

  https://fivemonkeyquilts.com/blogs/monkeying-around/hurricane-helene-relief-efforts-and-how-you-can-help

·        From My Carolina Home is collecting quilts.

Yes, I can take quilts for Hurricane Helene victims.  I am primarily concentrating on Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, and Gerton, along smaller communities in east Henderson county hardest hit by the hurricane.  See my blog post on my last delivery here - https://frommycarolinahome.com/2024/11/03/quilts-for-chimney-rock-and-bat-cave/

All sizes welcome, but the greatest need is for twin size that can keep an adult warm overnight.  Larger sizes welcome for couples, and smaller lap sizes to cover children are needed.  Baby quilts are not really usable. Winter is here, and the need is more urgent now.  Right now, I have at least 100 households waiting for a quilt, and many of those have multiple people in the household. Some are abused women fleeing from the abuse of a spouse made worse by the hardship of the devastation.  I have two shelters that would be very happy to have quilts to lift spirits during this holiday season.

Quilts can be shipped to my address, also on my contact page on my blog if needed.

My postal mailing address is –

Carole Carter

PO Box 524

Mountain Home, NC 28758

For Fedex or UPS –

I also am a member of the Western NC Quilters Guild. The guild is winding down its distribution program, but still has connections in other areas where we can distribute quilts.  I plan to continue serving my community with this project for at least another year.
