I finished this little wall hanging yesterday and I couldn’t be more tickled with it!  I needed a new sample to teach this Improv Bird Block (#blocklottobird) since I gifted the last quilt.  I’ll be teaching this improv technique to the Manatee Patchworkers in Bradenton on Feb 4.

If you’re anything like me, you have a few almost-finished projects laying around.  Since I had last month off of the “TT&T production” that is my job, I decided to tackle some of these UFOs.  Standing at one vantage point, I could see and write down 20 different projects that needed finishing (and that is just what I can see, not the ones tucked away).  Yikes!  I love to start ‘em, not so much the finishing…are you with me?

Anyway, I have a little tip that might work for you.  Maybe you’re gonna say “Well DUH, Mary-Jeanine”, but stick with me:  I made a list, and I’m so delighted to cross each one off!  Yes, I know they are there, but the act of seeing them in writing and being able to cross them off?  Priceless!   (Only 2 left as of this writing.)

PS: if you're in the market for a machine but the ones highlighted below don't work for you, keep reading for the "Still Available" section, where I quick-list previous ads.

Happy Quilting,

 Mary-Jeanine

PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.

FIBER EXHIBIT IN VERO BEACH

The Vero Beach Art Club’s Fabulous Fiber Artists and Teachers will present an exciting exhibit, "Fabulous Fiber Artists" at The Center for Spiritual Care from January 3 - January 31, 2025.

You will be awed as well as inspired by their artistic accomplishments, including original work using several surface design techniques.  These artists also teach classes at the Vero Beach Art Club!   The various techniques include amazing hand-stitching using non-conventional fabrics (raw silk, wabi-sabi, hand-dyed, ice-dyed as well as geli-printed fabric).  We also have original painted artwork on silk, including clothing and pocketbooks.  In addition, you’ll see examples of deconstructed screen-printing, shibori, and discharging of clothing.  Our artists include a master wood-crafting artist using unique wood from around the world! Be part of the live POD cast on Opening Night! The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.  You don’t want to miss this show!

ZOOM WORKSHOP

From the Naples Quilters guild

We are hosting a zoom workshop with Amy Friend on January 18 and are opening up the workshop to non-guild members. If you can get your internet, computer, and sewing machine close to each other, you can participate from the comfort of your own home.

The project is Low Waste Paper Piecing and the quilt is "Gulls," a great Florida project. Go to Amy's website: https://duringquiettime.com/teaching-and-lectures and select the lecture "Low Waste Paper Piecing" for a picture of the project quilt. Participation is limited to 20, so if you are interested, contact Hilary Bobker, Program Chair at: hilary@anditwassew.com. The cost is $65 for the workshop. The pattern can be downloaded from Amy's website and is not included in the cost of the workshop. Should be fun!!!
