Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #48

November 30, 2001

Quilting Friends,

Is it just me, or is it a HomeMade Christmas this year?  I just don’t seem to have the where-withall to do the shopping thing this year, so I’m going to stick with lots of homemade gifts, like Biscotti for the kid’s teachers, and quilted stuff for the family.  Who needs sleep?

If you live in the East/Central Florida area and receive PBS 15, WCEU, please tune in on Thursdays at 7:30pm for “The Sewing Hotline”.  It is a LIVE sewing show, and you can  call your questions in to be answered on the show.  If we support this type of effort, they’ll MAKE MORE!

McCall's Quilting has added several free patterns, blocks and quilts, in patriotic shades to their web site. They have invited quilters to use them in humanitarian-related projects. (No copyright problem for groups to print and distribute copies of the patterns. Copyright release is at the bottom of the pattern pages.) They also have a humanitarian-related links page in response to quilters searching for projects to participate in. Links include patriotic patterns, quilt projects, and fund raising organizations. URLs are as follows:

I am a representative for an importer of patchwork quilts and we are starting to do business for with HSN and we are looking for someone to be our on air spokesperson.  We would need someone knowledgeable, enthusiastic and well spoken to talk about quilts.  Please call me if you or anyone you know would be interested in doing this.  You can either email me or call me at 404-685-3831.

The time frame is fairly quick.  Our first show for HSN is 12-21, so we would need to hire someone by 12-10ish.

There probably would be one or two shows a month.   Yes there is compensation.  We could pay either a set fee for doing the show or a percentage of sales.
