Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #58

November 6, 2002

Quilting Friends,

I don’t know about you, but I subscribe to my share of email newsletters.  Sometimes it is hard to differentiate between the “news” and the ads.  I understand that the people who put these newsletters out have to make a living, but I also feel that sometimes the newsletter is compromised if there are too many ads or sponsors.

I’m telling you this after I spent some time this afternoon replying to a pile of requests for ads, mentions in my newsletter, and links on my website.  I am sure these companies have good products, but I’ve never tried them.  My philosophy with FQN is to talk to you like I’d talk to a friend; we share information about events, and sometimes products or companies that we’ve used and can recommend.  I don’t ever want you to feel that I’m using the FQN platform for my own gain, monetary or otherwise.  That is not why I created FQN and that is not my vision for it.  I’ve had lots of offers to take FQN into the “for-profit” arena, but I like it just where it is:  a trusted vehicle for sharing Florida quilt related information.

After almost four years of publishing FQN, I’d just like you to know that I’m *still* not going anywhere, and you can always count on me to bring you useful and trusted information.  No strings attached.

A NEW QUILT SHOP IN AMELIA ISLAND

I started Jan's Quilt Shop in August 2001 in small shop (360 sq. ft) next to our home on a part time basis.  On 10/18/02 we expanded to full time and moved to our beautiful new shop of 1,800 sq. ft which is located in Gateway to Amelia - a new retail/business development on Amelia Island  -- we now are up to about 3,000 bolts of fabric as well as a nice selection of books, patterns and notions - only about 10 miles from I-95 on the right just after you cross the Shave (intracoastal) bridge - very easy to find - if you are in

our area, please stop by for a visit!
