Quilting Friends,

There are many ways to help Hurricane Victims, both locally and in the Gulf States.  If you are still looking for ways to help, here are some contacts:

Check with your local shops (www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com/shops.html) and guilds (  to see if they have an effort in place as well.  It’s a great feeling to give a quilt to a charity drive.

OK, here is your COMPUTER TIP: Did you know CTRL-Z will UNDO the last thing you did in a Windows program?  So if you accidentally delete something, it’s a fast way to get it back.

As always, if your email address changes, please let me know: subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com.  Thanks

QUILTS TO SUPPORT EX-OFFENDERS

We need your hands and your hearts to get involved with a very special community project.  The State Attorney’s Office in Seminole County is sponsoring their annual Make a Difference Day project on October 22, 2005.  The SAO staff and other community members will be working hard to paint/remodel and furnish a very special home in Midway.  It is the home of Women of Renewing Minds – a 6 month residential transitional home for female ex-offenders coming back into our community.  Without this program, many female offenders in Seminole County would end up right back on the streets and re-arrested after a brief period of time.  Without redirection they are doomed to fail – and this impacts not only their lives, but the lives of their children and family members, and even you and me as tax payers!

This new 5 bedroom donated facility will house 10 more beds – a much needed expansion from the 6 bed existing facility!  Here is where we need your help!

It is my theory that if we can show these women that their community believes in their ability to recover, they will find the strength they need to become productive citizens in our community – perhaps for the first time ever in their entire lives.

Joining together with our “Hands and Hearts United” theme, I believe we can make a difference and show that very support where they will see it every single day of their stay at the program.  We need 10 twin quilts with this theme in muted (earth tone) browns, golds,  reds and white color schemes to match the interior of the home.

Please help today!
