Guava Bars

1/2 c margarine
1/2 c white sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 c whole wheat flour
1 1/4 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
guava, strawberry or other jam

Mix margarine and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and mix well. Knead mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Divide dough into 2 pieces and roll each piece into 9 wide x 15 long inches. Spread jam into center. Fold over sides to make a 3 inch by 15 inch piece.  Bake 20 minutes at 375.  Slice into 1 1/4 inch cookies.
