Here is the second installation of our new Florida Quilt Network newsletter.  Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate them all!  Communication is my middle name, and its what I think is important and why I'm working so hard on this.  Please continue to send me names and email addresses of interested people in your guild and other guilds you know of.  Here are the guilds represented so far:

If you are scheduling teachers one, two or three years in advance, let us know!  That way we can make our plans too, and keep the teacher in Florida as long as we need to.  I know that personally, I'm trying to set up a couple of big names for my guild each year, and it would be great if I could plan to share expenses with one or more other guilds this far in advance.

David Walker will be with the PALM BEACH COUNTY QUILTERS' GUILD on Feb. 25-28, 1999.  He'll be teaching 2 classes:  if you're internet accessible, visit his site to see what the classes are all about. 

Small Works:  almost full, but those interested can go on waiting list.  It's a 2 day class 2/25-26/99 fee:  $55.00

Cut-through Machine Reverse Applique-seats available for this very innovative and creative class.  It's a 1 1/2 day class:  Sat 2/27/99   3hrs.  continuing on Sunday 2/28/99  6hrs.      9hrs. totalfee:  $ 52.00

Diane Smith (smithquilt@aol.com) of Florida Cabin Fever Quilters says:

 

The Florida Cabin Fever Quilters present “Gems and Jewels” Quilt Show on January 23 and 24, 1999 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.  200 quilts will be in the Viewers Choice Exhibit and cash prizes will be awarded.  Some quilts will be available for purchase.  In addition, there will be 50 Wall Hangings from the 1998 Hoffman Challenge, 37 Wall Hangings from the Qui ltArt Self-Portraits, and an antique quilt display.  Many exciting additional activities will be taking place including:  a drawing for a donation quilt, a miniature quilt auction, quilt appraisals by Teddy Pruett, 20 vendors, a gift boutique, and DOOR PRIZES.  The cost of admission is only $5.00 and parking is free.  The Central Florida Fairgrounds are located at 4603 W. I had the dates wrong, so here it is again, corrected:

Klaudeen Hansen is flying into Central Florida on May 18, 1999, Tuesday.  She will teach workshop(s) on Friday and/or Saturday (May 21st and 22nd).  Therefore, she is available to you on May 19 and 20, all day.   Klaudeen is the editor of Quilt Art Calendar and the brand new Miniature Quilt Address Book.  Her work and articles have appeared in numerous magazines and she has taught workshops from California to Florida, from Billings to Boston and lots of places in between.  Her phone (no email) is 608-837-2298.  She does have a fax machine, tho.
