Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #101 September 2nd, 2006
Quilting Friends,
I happened upon a wonderful website, one I am sure to use many times as I travel: www.mapmuse.com. If you select “quilting topics” from the “View All Interests” drop-down, you will see a map of quilt guilds and quilt shops. Now it is up to YOU to get your local guild and local shop to add their information to make the map complete. While you’re at it, take a look at MY guild page (www.FloridaQuiltNetwork.com/guilds.html and my shop page (http://www.floridaquiltnetwork.com/shops.html) to be sure they are up-to-date as well.
Tena Davis, (davis2tk@msn.com) asks this question:
I'm searching for information about whether personal liability insurance is needed for officers of an incorporated quilt guild in the state of Florida. Do you know, or could you post an item in the next FQN newsletter for anyone with experience or information in this regard to contact me.
Our officers are concerned about being sued personally, along with the guild if someone should be injured at a guild event. I'd be interested in knowing of any Florida guilds that carry officer liability along with guild liability policies? We were quoted about $950 for an Officers policy. That's a lot of money for a guild to pay in addition to our other liability policy.
Thank you,
As always, if you have a new email address, please let me know at subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com.

She will offer a full-range of classes and soon have a long-arm quilting machine in the store. She is offering a 10% discount to Guild Members and, for non-guild members, she has a Punch Card that entitles you to $20.00 off your next purchase once you have fully-punched your card ($200.00 in purchases).
Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 – 6, Saturday 9 – 4 and the shop is located at 380 Semoran Commerce Place, Suite A101, on 436 near the 441 intersection, next to Mullinax Ford. Call for information and directions at (407) 889-0077.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- JAN MULLEN WORKSHOPS IN ORANGE PARK
Straight from Aussie-land, Jan will be teaching two different classes on TUES NOV 7 & WED NOV 8. These are all day classes 10:00-5.
Tues 11/7 - Reverse Appliqué: Jan has sent us two samples from her book - one a funky flower - one a furless feline. Both are small wall hangings - easily do-able in a one day class (okay...easily "start-able" for most with finishing hand touches at home). You can choose either design OR Jan says you can bring in your own "shape". Stop by the shop if you can to see these - this will all make more sense to you if you see the quilts "in person".
Wed 11/8 - Jan will teach from her newest book: "Free and Easy Circles". We just got the book in last Friday - and it's absolutely fantaztic! I'm not sure what exactly Jan will teach from the book, but as soon as I know, you'll know. (Jan said she would work up something just for us and at the moment she's teaching/traveling).
Classes each day are $90. If you sign up for both days, the cost will be $165. Payment in full for either one day or both with insure your seat in class. Class size is limited to 16 each day for your sewing comfort.
We have a fridge so you "brown bag it" - or choose from many eateries close to the shop (walking and driving distance). It's up to you - there will be a one hour break for lunch.
If you have questions or would like to see Jan's samples... stop by the shop. I haven't taken pictures of Jans two quilts...but plan to soon. I'd be thrilled to send you a pix - just let me know. Thanks! Lynn
