Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #106 February 1, 2007
Quilting Friends,
We’ve been out and about now for two weeks (on our 6.5 month US trip), and even went back to our home in Altamonte Springs to pick up a few odds and ends we decided we couldn’t live without. The Keys were warm and humid, and the kids got an eyeful. LOL. Ft. Myers was a little cooler, and by the time we got to Fort DeSoto Park the cold front had arrived and we learned to keep warm in various imaginative ways. Most involved jackets and wool socks. Really. I’ve got a needlepoint Christmas stocking to work on, as well as a couple of handwork quilt projects, so I’m happy as a clam to sit and stitch while the kids are doing their school work. As I sit here in the Stephen Foster SP in White Springs, FL, it is chilly, but we’re cozy inside and all doing our own thing. Tomorrow we’ll go on a hike before heading over to Panama City Beach.
You may remember that I’ve listed a couple of longarm machines for sale in the past. Well, they were sold so quickly from those listings, that I’ve decided to include a regular Classified Section in this newsletter. If you have something sewing or quilt related to sell, consider an advertisement in this newsletter. There are over 1000 interested readers in Florida and beyond. The charge is $50 for your ad, which will include two listings (two consecutive newsletters) for a single ad. Please send your ad to ad@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com, and look for a reply from me with instructions for sending the payment.
As always, if you have email changes, let me know:subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

OPPORTUNITIES (by Stacy McEachern):
I came across a great “opportunity” for all of you out there who have volunteered for or ended up with the often daunting task of scheduling and coordinating travel plans for your guild or group...or perhaps just for your own personal/family travel plans. Jan Palin, a fine quilter herself, has started her own travel business and wants to combine her love of quilting and her love of travel by working with fellow quilters to alleviate some of those horrible travel headaches...and save you money at the same time. Here’s some general information about her unique services and some easy ways to contact her:
Tired of paying travel agent's fees? Book your travel on-line yourself or contact me and I'll assist you. I book airfare, rental cars, golf and ski vacations, lodging accommodations, cruises and much more. Surf over to www.ytb.com/jansjaunts to preview the latest vacation deals. While you’re there, sign up for my free newsletter "Deals and Steals". And specifically for quilt-related events...Have you ever thought about doing a different type of quilting retreat? Want to cruise with a particular teacher? How about a group trip to one of the big quilt shows? Let me, a fellow quilter, coordinate with your group or guild to set it all up. Just pick the destination and when you want to go and let me do the rest. I'd love to work with your group. Contact me, Jan Palin, at Jans_Jaunts@hotmail.com or by phone 321-431-5659.
Remember, opportunities come in lots of different shapes, sizes and textures so if you know of any quilt-related “opportunities” in general, please send them to me at fqn_ops@yahoo.com so they can be shared with everyone next month.
