Florida Quilt Network - Newsletter #116 February 2, 2008
Quilting Friends,
We continue in Florida’s quilting high-season…get out there and see some shows!!
For those of you who receive the HGTV cable show, did you know that Simply Quilts is back with reruns at 8am? The schedule is posted at the end of this newsletter. And speaking of quilting on TV, there is a new PBS show from Quilting Arts (yep, the magazine). Its called Quilting Arts TV and you can see if a station near you carries it by going to www.QuiltingArtsTV.com. If you cannot find it locally, consider sending an email to your local PBS station(s) to ask for it. Go to www.PBS.org, look for the Station Finder button at the bottom of the screen. This will lead to an email address for your local station. For those of you in Central Florida, I’ve done the work for you: Our two PBS stations in Central Florida are WMFE and WCEU. Here are the email addresses you can send requests to: Channel15@dbcc.edu and fmprogramming@wmfe.org. I told them they’d be hearing from quilters, so please don’t delay…do it now while its fresh on your mind. They DO listen! And tell them you’re a station member (if you are!).
I don’t know if any of your new year’s resolutions are green, as in saving the environment, but just in case they are, one of my resolutions is to share with you some of my favorite green living tips. Feel free to share yours too for future newsletters! If we don’t start changing the way we simply live, there won’t be much left of this earth for our grandchildren. That is a given.
Tip #2: Living in Florida means you will see a few bugs in your home. Unless you want to saturate your living space with poisons, that is. We do get a few bugs crossing the threshold now and then, so what we do is spray cleanser on them! I have a non-toxic counter spray (Mrs. Meyers cut in half with water) that I attack the bugs with. They stop in their tracks immediately, and I can then take my time wiping them up. I’m not sure, but I think it works because it cuts the surface tension on their bodies. So there you are, no poisons, and you’re one step closer to a clean house!
As always, if you have email changes, let me know:subscribe@FloridaQuiltNetwork.com

REQUEST FOR A QUILT MAKER
Autumn says: I recently got married and I am looking to have my wedding gown made into a quilt. In doing research, I have come across many quilters across the nation who are able to do this... However, I have had difficulty finding any local ( e.g. Florida/south Florida/Palm Beach County) quilters who perform this service. If you are interested in helping me out, please send an email: Autumn Price (autumn.price@gmail.com). Thank you.
