Join Dr. Crews for lunch (optional) and a book signing in conjunction with her appearance as keynote speaker for Quilting Natural Florida 2. Innovative QNF-themed quilts also will be on display at the book signing

Professor Patricia Cox Crews joined the faculty of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984. She teaches textile history and textile science courses, and is director of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum, which houses the world’s largest public collection of quilts (more than 3,000) dating from the early 1700s to the present.
Dr. Crews has published more than 50 technical papers about the history, preservation, and performance of textiles, and has received several awards for distinguished teaching and outstanding research. Her book, “Nebraska Quilts and Quiltmakers,” won the Smithsonian’s Frost Prize for Distinguished Scholarship in American Crafts in 1993. Her more recent books include “American Quilts in the Modern Age, 1870-1940,” and “Wild by Design: Two Hundred Years of Innovation and Artistry in American Quilts,” which won the 2004 Textile Society of America’s R. L. Shep Award for best book in the field. In 2003, Dr. Crews was named a Willa Cather Professor for Outstanding Scholarship. Most recently, Dr. Crews was honored as the 2006 inductee to the Nebraska Quilters' Hall of Fame.

Quilt Show: Saturday, Feb. 27, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, at Word of Life Florida, 14800 Hudson Ave., Hudson (7 ½ miles from US 19). Last year we had over 100 quilts. Show admission $3.00. This is part of our annual fund-raiser community yard sale and auction which begins at 8:00 AM. All proceeds go to allow underprivileged children to attend Christian summer camp.
