KATIE PASQUINI MASOPUST WORKSHOP IN BOCA RATON
KATIE PASQUINI MASOPUST, well-known and respected national teacher, is coming to Gold Coast Quilter's Guild in Boca Raton this January. There are just a few spots left in the two workshops she will be teaching and, because we want to offer this opportunity to as many quilters as possible, we are opening these spots up to members of neighboring guilds.
On Wednesday, Jan 18, 2012, Katie will be teaching COMPOSITION. Class Fee for non-members is $75, and there is a $25 Kit Fee payable to Katie in class. On Thursday, Jan 19, Katie will teach a workshop on VALUE. The fee is $75, and there is a $25 Kit Fee payable to Katie in class. Flying Needles Retreat & Quilt Show

Crafty Threads Spring Quilt Retreat ~ March 29 - April 1, 2012 Enjoy 4 days / 3 nights of quilting fun in a scenic and relaxing lake front setting near Leesburg, Florida. This retreat will inspire you with make & takes, demos, and lots of open sew time. Registration includes make & takes/demos, accommodations, meals, and all retreat activities. Quilters of all skill levels welcome as well as Non-Quilting Companions. You just bring your basic sewing/quilting supplies and comfy clothes & slippers. What workshops will be featured? Barb is planning LOTS of make and takes and demos. Demo/make & take participation is always totally optional. Don Beld, author, historian and quilter, is founder of the Home of the Brave Quilt Project. He has dedicated his life to honoring the families of fallen heroes. With the help of groups of quilters from all 50 states, Beld’s Home of the Brave Quilt Project hand-pieces, hand-quilts, and gives a quilt to each family that has lost someone in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Beld also has made remembrance quilts for each of the major 9/11 and other terrorist incidents. A recognized expert on Civil War quilts, Beld wrote Civil War Quilts with co-author Pam Weeks. Their book will be introduced January 2012.
Through connections with the local quilting community, the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program and Women's Studies Program at the University of Florida, UF alumna Sandra Kay Haile has arranged to bring Don Beld to Gainesville for a program to be held the morning of Armed Forces Day, May 19, 2012, at Hilton University of Florida Conference Center, followed by an afternoon workshop at a location to be determined.

Smoky Mountain Quilters Guild of Tennessee would like to invite members of your guild to enter quilts in our annual quilt show and competition. The 32nd annual show will be held March 23-25, 2012 on the campus of Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. Our entries are not juried, however we depend on the services of highly trained and certified professional judges to evaluate the quilts and award the efforts of our entrants. We award over $6,000 in prize money. Our exhibit space is completely climate controlled with good lighting.
