Interwoven Guest Artist, Alejandrina Cué Friday, December 16, 6 p.m. (5:15 reception) Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts Galleries $10 general admission; free for Friends of Textiles members and full-time students
Cué lives in Havana, Cuba. In addition to her fine arts degrees from the Matanzas School of Fine Arts and the National School of Drawing in Havana, Cué studied at the Bauhaus School of Design in Germany. Her works have been included in numerous international exhibitions and she has received numerous awards of distinction throughout her artistic career.

The Quilting Guild of The Village (The Villages, FL) will be holding their first Marketplace event on January (2012) 21st and 22nd at the Savannah Center. We’d love to see this on your calendar. We will have 50 vendors there from 8 states (OH, PA, KY, WI, VA, GA, NC and FL). During the event, there will be demos in the main lobby. I’ve included the link to the event below.

BECKY GOLDSMITH WORKSHOP IN BRANDON
The Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Brandon will host Becky Goldsmith, Piece
O'Cake, to teach at our Guild on Saturday,
February 11 and Monday, February 13, 2012. The class is just $45.
each for a full day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are
anticipating having some openings in both of these classes and wanted to open
them up to other guilds on a first come, first serve basis.
The class is "My Whimsical Garden". We hold classes at the First United Methodist Church in Brandon on SR 60 and Moon Ave. More info HERE. Block #6 is on Monday and Block #1 is on Saturday.

MIXED MEDIA ART WEEKEND IN MOUNT DORA
Foxie Artist Productions presents the Mixed Media Art Weekend Retreat in Mount Dora, Florida on January 27th to 29th 2012. Join us for an artist retreat in beautiful Mount Dora featuring four top-notch artists from around the country. There will be four intensive workshops offered over three days. The workshops include Fused Art Quilting, Marble Dyeing, Encaustics, and Mixed Media Collage. The first workshop, Marble Dyeing will be offered Friday. Workshops two, three, and four are intensive two-day classes and will be held concurrently on Saturday and Sunday. Register by Dec. 15th for a $50 discount. Explore the state of mind that is Florida and send us your inspiration. Entry Deadline: March 16, 2012 Notification of Acceptance: April 2, 2012 Exhibit Dates: May 19 – August 18, 2012 FLORIDA IN FABRIC aims to promote an appreciation of quilt making as an art form and to provide Florida quilters with an opportunity to display their quilts in the premier textile arts center of the state.

Go to Gallery for some interesting and lovely work! Several of the members are SAQA and Jayne Gaskins will be the new FL Rep for the north east area. Her work has won many awards and she has a piece in the current Quilt National 2011 traveling around. JoElla Manning was an original founding ArtsEtc member but was able to create her own group up in the Jax. area and Diane Hamburg attended at least one program at Atlantic Center for the Arts.
Also, they have a competition open to all that you might be interested in at Exhibits!
