Well, here you go, another action packed calendar of quilting events coming to Florida in the next 5 months. I’ve been publishing this newsletter for 14 years now, and its been wonderful to be a part of the success in so many events around the state.
I’m glad to help you get the word out about YOUR event, because communication is my middle name (didn’t know that, did you?). Many of the events are organized by hard working quilters who would much rather be stitching than figuring out how to market/advertise their event. I’m glad I can coordinate all the info into one handy dandy newsletter and website. This is my gift to you, the Florida Quilter!

QUILT CLASS IN SARASOTA
On November 10th Sue Tharp of Granny Sue Quilts of Lake Placid, Florida will be giving a class "Braid in a Day” Quilt Workshop to be held at the Sarasota Gulfcoast Group at Waldemere Fire Station, Sarasota FL. from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Tickets are $10 and her kit is $30. Sue will provide yardage and cutting chart information for all sizes and teach the use of the acrylic template, strip cutting and braid piece work. These skills are transferable to embellishing if you are not a quilter.

SEWING EXPO IN LEESBURG
In January of 2013 the Florida Sewing Sew-Ciety held its first annual Expo at Lake Yale in Lake County, Florida. By any measure, it was a resounding success. The 2014 Expo will be held on January 21.22.& 23. The Expo will feature national educators, exciting classes, sewing challenges, a Fashion Show and vendors from around the state and the country. Registration for the event is now open. All of the necessary information about registration, classes and fees can be found at the FSS website, www.floridasewingsewciety.org. If you are interested in attending, please get your registration in as soon as possible – space is filling up fast.

KUMQUAT FESTIVAL IN DADE CITY
January 25, 2014 - Kumquat Quilt Challenge, Kumquat Festival, Dade City, FL
Challenge Theme for 2014 is "THE ORANGE DIMENSION"
Entries made by quilters age 17 and younger will be judged separately from the adult entries.
Entry forms and rules can be obtained at http://www.dadecitychamber.org/ and follow the links for the Kumquat Festival.
The 2014 theme is "THE ORANGE DIMENSION ". Prominent and creative use of orange is required. There are six categories, including a Junior Quilter category for quilters age 17 and under. Adults have a choice of five categories, including Small Quilts, Large Quilts, Wearables, Miniature Quilts and Miscellaneous items.
Entries should be submitted to the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce office between 8am and 5pm beginning January 13 and January 17, 2014.

QUILT SHOW IN PUNTA GORDA
Disconnected Piecers Quilt Guild is having their quilt show, A Gathering of Quilts, on Friday February 21, from 9am until 5pm, and on Saturday February 22 from 9am until 4pm.
The show is at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center, 75 Taylor St, on the Peace River in downtown Punta Gorda, Florida.
Come and enjoy the quilts, vendor mall, boutique, quilters auction, old fashioned quilt turnings, quilting related demonstrations and special exhibits. Busses welcome!
Admission is $6. There is food available on site, as well as several restaurants within walking distance of the venue.

West Pasco Quilters' Guild will host their 12th biennial Quilt Show, "Fabric in Motion", March 14, 15 & 16, 2014, at New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center, 6630 Van Buren St., New Port Richey.
