Quilting Friends,
Do you have any smartphone apps that help you in your quilting studio? Here’s one…TimeSheet (Android) allows me to keep track of the minutes and hours I spend on each project. How often do people ask you “How long did that take?” ? Well, now you can give them an exact answer. I always use it when I’m working on a customer’s quilting project, and I can track every single minute, instead of rounding up or down on a little scrap of paper.
What about you? Do you have an app that helps in your quilting room?
I want to call your attention to a change to a long-standing quilt show. Lake County Quilt Guild puts on a fabulous quilt show EVERY year in Mount Dora. Usually the show is Thursday and Friday, but in 2014 they are moving it to FRIDAY and SATURDAY. If you come on Thursday, you will receive a $1 coupon off the price of admission for Friday. So don’t come on Thursday, LOL. See you there!

Calling all Quilts! Textile Center at Florida Tech Continues Successful Juried Quilt Exhibition
The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts at Florida Institute of Technology continues its successful juried exhibition of art quilts with FLORIDA IN FABRIC II, which will feature more than 30 original quilts created by Florida artists.
The Funk Center invites Florida artists to submit their quilted visions of the Florida experience by Jan. 31, 2014. Selected quilts will make up the exhibition, which will be on view at the Funk Center, May 24 - Aug. 23, 2014.
Making the selections for the exhibit will be juror Martha Sielman. Sielman is the executive director of Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing art quilting as a fine art medium. Martha has witnessed the explosive growth of art quilting, as well as growing interest in art quilts as a legitimate and collectible fine art medium. Over the past nine years of Sielman’s leadership, SAQA’s membership has grown to over 3,100 members in 32 countries.
FLORIDA IN FABRIC II will be presented by the Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts to promote an appreciation of quilt making as an art form and to provide Florida quilters with an opportunity to display their quilts in the premier textile arts center in the state. Art accepted for this exhibition will exemplify innovation in quilting and surface design techniques as well as excellence in artistic composition and craftsmanship.

NEW QUILT NOVEL PUBLISHED
"Small Town Haven", the second in the Helen Crowder Adventure Series by
Charlie Hudson, is available from the American Quilter Society. The novel
opens at a quilting show in Atlanta where unknown to Helen, she will be
drawn into helping the newest member of their quilting circle who is about
to be faced with a secret from her past. And that doesn't count other
changes that are coming to Helen's life such as the pending birth of her
