Quilting Friends,

You may remember I mentioned last month that hubby and I would be traveling up to the Canadian Rockies for a few months to escape the Florida heat and hike some beautiful trails.  I’d forgotten how beautiful the area is; its been 29 years since we here last.  Today we hiked the Maligne Canyon just northeast of Jasper…Just. So. Beautiful! Here is a picture of me and the rig on the amazing drive up from Banff to Jasper. (and yes, the highs lately have been in the mid 60s, tho lots of rain). We've run a few white water rafting trips, and the water is 37 degrees off the glaciers. Refreshing! ;)

SHOPPING/BUS TRIP

Connie from Quilting Sisters Guild in Leesburg is planning a bus trip is planned for Oct 31st.   We will be going to Fabric Art in Lake City, Julies Pins and Needles in Alachua and Tomorrows Treasures in Ocala. The bus will leave from the lodge at 8 a.m. sharp.  We will return no earlier than 6 p.m. Includes lunch, lots of door prizes and snacks  The bus trip is $45 for members and $50 for non guild members.  NO refunds after Sept 26th.

I found an awesome place for lunch. I had their chicken salad and it was not made with mayo it was made with marzipan cheese.  You will have your choice of chicken, egg or tuna salad.   It comes with a fruit cup and a scone.  Will have lunch at the quilt shop in their classroom.  There will be different choice of drinks to choose from.

HOLLIS CHATELAINE LECTURE AND WORKSHOP IN LAKELAND

Ladies of the Lakes Quilters Guild in Lakeland will be having award winning Hollis Chatelaine for a lecture/trunk show on Nov. 21 & a 2 day workshop on Nov. 22 & 23. painting on fabric. The fee is $185.00 for the 2 day workshop plus a kit fee of $40.00 payable to Hollis the first day of the workshop. If you pay for the workshop on or before July 18, 2019 the fee is $165.00. If you are paying for the workshop the lecture/ trunk show will be free. If you aren't a member of the guild but would like to only attend the lecture the fee is $20.00.

New quilt guild in Ocala:
The [new since January 2019] SW 200 Corridor Quilt Guild of Ocala now has 42 members!  At its June meeting, it had its first class entitled "Color Theory" presented by a local artist.  Another class (TBA) will be held in October.  Each month members give short 15-minute demos on various quilting techniques.   The guild appears to be heading for a success!
