I
talked about this new quilt at length at my Facebook Live event this
morning. In case you missed it, here’s a link. I
love everything about the quilt, how the solid colors work together, the curved
quilting lines, my original border design and the
awesome flange binding. Maybe you can
use just one of those ideas on your next quilt?!?
This
month marks 12 years of our ‘Tips, Tools & Techniques Club’ at the Sewing
Studio in Maitland. The first 11 years
grew from a small room in the main store to the large Event Room and then to
two sessions, it was so popular. Now of
course, we’ve switched to an online format. I have NO IDEA when we will return to the in-person
version, but for now, FB Live is working well.
This morning we had at 200 viewers throughout the hour, and boy we
covered a lot of material! As you can
tell, I’m proud of what we built from scratch. I hope you can join us next time, always the 4th
Saturday of the month at 10am.

Suncoast Quilting Circle will be bringing a range of quilt shop vendors to you
in the comfort of your own home throughout 2021. For this first virtual
Shop-Hop, join Marcia Layton of Marcia Layton Designs and Melissa Kruschwitz of MK Quilts as they each tell us about their
respective quilting experience and specialty, what is trending in fabrics and
notions, what is expected in the coming period and everything new and exciting
in the quilting world. Guests $10

with Mary-Jeanine Ibarguen
Mary-Jeanine brings a
collection of quilts and quick projects that will inspire you to delve into
your fabric stash for your next quilt. Whether it’s
a beautiful set of fat quarters, a jelly roll you just had to have, a bag of
scrappy strings, or even your prized collection of florals, she will present
many ideas to encourage you to go from stash to quilt. Mary-Jeanine
presents step-by-step demonstrations for each project. Many ideas are easy and
quick, some are easily converted to larger or smaller block sizes, but all
projects are geared toward working through that wonderful stash of yours.

SARASOTA QUILT SHOW CANCELLED - OPPORTUNITY QUILT STILL HAPPENING!!
Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild Quilt Show in Sarasota has been cancelled for March 12-13, 2021.
But the Opportunity Quilt is still happening!
The Friendship Knot Quilters’ Guild 2021 Quilt Show has been cancelled and will return March 2023. We are, however, still giving away our 2021 Opportunity Quilt on March 13, 2021. Tickets can now be purchased on our website through PayPal or by mail to FKQG, P.O. Box 376, Osprey, FL 34229-0376. Cost is 6 tickets for $5 or larger options are available. QUILT SHOW IN TRENTON - FREE
Trenton Quilt and Artisan Festival News
The
Trenton Quilt and Artisan Festival is planned for March 19-21. For the
first time the festival will be a three day
event. On Friday, March 19th the festival will kick off at the
Trenton Train Depot with a free family friendly
movie. This event will be held form 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On
Saturday, March 20th, Main Street and First Street as well as the Depot will be
the location for the Quilt and Artisan
Festival. Downtown will be decorated with lovely handmade quilts. There
will also be a good number of antique and craft
vendors along with several food trucks and nice display of antique
tractors.
Free Admission
festival starts at 9 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.
The
Saturday festival hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, March 21th, the
festival will be located along First Street to
the Train Depot. Antique and Craft Vendors and Live Entertainment at the Train Depot will be featured on Sunday, but no quilts.

RETREAT IN LUTZ
Jacqueline De Jonge
is unable to leave her country for the April Retreat. We’ll
have a quilting retreat instead!!
We have decided to have a 'no
frills' retreat. We have worked up details for a 5 day,
4 day, 3 day, 2 day, or a 1 day retreat. The sewing room for each day is
$30 per person. The dates are Wednesday, April 21 through Sunday,
April 25, 2021.
You will be able to sew from 7
am - midnight if you so choose. The hotel has given us a rate per
room of 2 double beds for $114 + tax or king size for $124 + tax per
night. You are not required to sleep over if you don't
want to, but it's very reasonable. The sewing room will close Sunday
at 4 pm.
The hotel has also given us a 50%
discount on breakfasts. They will also provide us with a lunch menu that
we can order early each day so they may have it prepared for you. All
meals are on your own-'no frills'. There are many restaurants in the area
if you would like to go out to eat other than the hotel.
SDQ will also have a small store set
up for purchases.
This is a non-refundable fee.
If you are unable and we have someone on the waitlist we will be glad to then
refund your money.
We can allow 24 each day, so if you don't want all 5 days, please let me know what consecutive
days you would like. You will also be able to sign up online starting
February 27.
