We are in the thick of the Quilt Show season….hope this
newsletter will help you visit a few new shows this year! Toward the end of this newsletter, I’ve
reposted the information for items listed in the Calendar section up to March 9th.

(this takes some outdoor space...will discharge
color from fabric
using a couple of different methods)

blue printing, or a new process in which all
colors can be
obtained with transparent dyes

1. Thermofax printing
(a photo process, in which we will make up
screens from line
drawings or half tone photos)
2. Silk screen
printing, which we from the screens we make

FABSHOP HOP #3
FabShop Hop3, running from April 1-30, is sponsored by The
Fabric Shop Network, Inc. (www.fabshopnet.com), an association of independent
fabric and quilt shops in the U.S. and Canada.
Shoppers, known as "hoppers", go from web site to
web site looking for "The Bunny" which can be found at each
site. By clicking on the bunny they can
register for prize drawings. Hoppers
who visit and register at all shops are eligible for the Grand Prize drawing
for sewing machines
and sergers donated by major manufacturers. Another hundred
or so win first and second prizes of fabric, notions and books donated by
manufacturers and publishers.
Over 20,000 home sewers and quilters participated in the
October Hop and organizers are expecting the spring Hop to be even larger. Participants can register for FabShop Hop3
starting in January at www.fabshophop.com. Just before the Hop starts,
participants will receive an email reminder and then will have 30 days to visit
the shops on the web. During the Hop
registered consumers will receive FabShopHopNews with tips for success,
technical information, and notices of special sales and promotions at

PAULINE SALZMAN TRUNK SHOW
The Manatee Patchworkers of Bradenton will host a trunk show
featuring Pauline Salzman at their February 26, 2001 meeting to be held at
the Congregational United Church of
Christ, 3700 26th Ave. W., Bradenton at 7:00
PM. Admission for non-members is
$3.00. Free to members.
Pauline, born and raised in Detroit, has been living in
Florida for 30 years. She is an
accomplished blind stitch machine appliquer and free hand quilter. Her many awards include 2nd Place 1997 Quilt
America; 3rd Place Quilt Fest, Miami;
3rd Place 1997 Quilt Festival, Houston; Best of Show, 1998, Benartex. And the list goes on and on. Sure to be an interesting program,
providing you with lots of inspiration.

JAN WILDMAN LECTURE AND WORKSHOP
Gold Coast Quilter’s
Guild: Jan Wildman, an award winning quilting teacher who specializes in
precision machine piecing techniques and machine quilting will lecture and show

QUILT SHOW IN TAMPA BAY
The Quilters' Workshop of Tampa Bay announces its quilt
show, "2001: A Tampa Quilt Odyssey," February 23 and 24, 2001, at the
newly renovated A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Over 100 quilts, showcasing a variety of
techniques including hand and machine quilting, will be on display.
The exhibit will include two special traveling quilt
collections (one from Hoffman Fabrics and one from Sulky of America), the
Quilters' Workshop Challenge Quilts, and both a silent and a live auction of
mini quilts with proceeds from the auctions benefiting the Shriners'
Hospital/Egypt Shrine Patient Transportation.
Also at the show will be a Quilter's Mall, featuring vendors presenting
the latest in machines, fabrics, patterns and notions; a wearable art fashion
show; demonstrations; Teddy Pruett, a certified quilt appraiser; door prizes;
an opportunity quilt made by the Quilters' Workshop (drawing to be held
Saturday at 3:45 p.m., tickets will be available at the
show); and the Quilters' Workshop Boutique where shoppers
can find the perfect hand-crafted item to brighten their spring or fill an
Easter basket. A light lunch and
refreshments will be available for purchase on site.
The show will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., February 23 and 24 at A La Carte Event
Pavilion (formerly Egypt Shrine Temple), 4050 Dana Shores Drive, Tampa,
Florida. Tickets are $5.00 each at the
door. Discount available to large
groups, arranged in advance. Parking is
free.

Country Road Quilters present "Through A Country
Garden"
Ocala City Auditorium
826 NE Sanchez Ave. Ocala
Ocala is located off I-75, about an hour north of Orlando.
9am til 4pm. Admission $3.00. There will be a boutique of
handmade items, a silent miniature auction, and numerous demonstrations. These
will include everything from basic instructions to make a quilt, to hand
quilting, to a longarm machine quilting and how to sew on a treadle machine.
There will be numerous quilts by members on display as well as several
vendors. An opportunity quilt
"Grandmother's Garden Quilt" will be raffled off. It is based on a
pattern by
Eleanor Burns and has pieced and appliquéd flower baskets.
