Quilting
Friends,
The
flower girl’s dress is finished, the pants are hemmed, the shoes are broken in,
and we’re off to Columbus, Ohio for my sister-in-law’s wedding. Thought I’d get one more newsletter out now,
since school starts up soon after we get home.
(And yes, the happy couple is getting a quilt from me!)
Check
out a neat website: www.sulky.com. Lots of free projects from their various
publications.

NEW
PBS SHOW: QUILT CENTRAL
This
is a message from Bethany Reynolds:
Last month I taped a segment for "Quilt
Central," a new quilting program available to PBS affiliates beginning
this fall. The hosts for this new show
are Donna Wilder, familiar to many as the host of "Sew
Creative," and Jane Donaldson, a
machine quilting expert. The series will focus on decorating with quilts (move
over, Martha!). The producers purchased a lovely home in Paducah, KY and
decorated each room beautifully with quilts. In addition to the decorating
tips, each show will include quilting segments (long-arm quilting and machine
embroidery will be covered, along with more traditional topics) and featured
guests. I was surprised and honored to be the featured guest for the premier
episode. I demonstrated the fan quilt design from my new book. The taping went
smoothly despite thunderstorms and power outages that kept everybody on their toes.
The fan quilt sample I pieced for the show's living room will be used
throughout the season.
This looks like an exciting new series. Contact your
local PBS affiliate for show dates and times in your area. And if they aren't
planning to carry it yet, let them know your interest. Most PBS stations do
listen to their viewers, so let's make sure they know there are quilters in the
audience!
And
now back to the editor: Please consider
contacting your local PBS station to tell them you’d like to see this show on
their station. Go to www.pbs.org and type your zip code in the
Station Finder Box in the upper right corner.
Follow the link to your local station(s) and their contact email. Please let them know you are interesting in
their carrying this new quilting program, “Quilt Central”. Thank You.
