Oh my gosh, I
saw this one on Instagram and fell in love.
I had to make it! Its called Letra. We have a few
kits left at The Sewing Studio. What’s
nice about the kit is that the pattern is a little confusing about what color
goes where, so we included a color chart for the fabrics in the kit. Believe me, you’ll want a chart. You can also just buy the pattern.
Every
once in a while we
come upon a story that just tugs at our heart, in a good way. Here
is what I heard last Saturday morning on the radio and I wanted to share it
with you. One of those “good news”
stories that we all wish were more in the news.
So so sweet!!
(If we grownups could be as welcoming, the world would be a different
place.)

I have a Bernina Long arm quilting frame for
sale along with the computer QMatic, complete with
hundreds of quilting designs. It has the hydraulics. So you can sit or stand while using it. It is complete. I would prefer to keep the machine, the
Q20. It will take the bigger Q24 as well.
It is in perfect condition. I bought
this frame 3 years ago…..rarely used. (I paid over $22,000 for it and am asking
$17,500). I am not able to use it any more. Health
issues.

EXHIBIT IN TALLAHASSEE
On Thursday, June
13th, from 6:00-8:00 pm, join us for the opening reception of "The
Quilts of Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill."
Florida State
University's School of Dance and the Museum of Fine Arts are delighted to announce "The Quilts of Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold
Hill." Conceived and developed by School of Dance Professor Anjali Austin,
the exhibition highlights quilts designed and crafted by her maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Gussie Beatrice Arnold Hill, a Tallahassee native. This
exhibit is dedicated to the brilliance of our ancestors—African Americans—who
weathered the struggle with resilience and strength.
Free parking is
available next to MoFA in the Call Street parking
garage. Refreshments will be provided. This event is free and open to the
public.

Memory Quilt Community Project: Free
Interactive Memory Gathering Session
June 22 @ 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Join artist Kristin Beck in honoring and highlighting
Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month this June with her Memory Quilt
community building project! Participants are invited to share their own
memories to incorporate into the quilt. Fabric will be available to hand write
memories, or participants may contribute a piece of fabric from a meaningful
piece of clothing (ex: a baby’s onesie or grandad’s favorite shirt.)

EXHIBIT IN JACKSONVILLE
The
Cummer Museum, located along the St. John’s River in Jacksonville’s Riverside
neighborhood, is planning a special exhibition to celebrate the history of
quilts in the United States. The exhibition – “Fabric of a Nation: American
Quilt Stories” – travels to the Cummer from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
(MFA) and it will showcase 46 of the MFA’s collection of remarkable American
quilts. The exhibition opens on July 5, 2024, and will continue through September
29, 2024.
