Quilting Friends,
(click
to enlarge)
Back home;
lots of sewing around here. I’m plowing
thru piles of scraps to build at least 5 different scrappy quilts at the moment….definitely my happy situation!
This quilt was discussed at
last week’s Tips Tools
& Techniques Club at The Sewing Studio.
You may recognize it as Urban
Cabins from Atkinson Designs, a pattern that has been around a while. However in my travels this summer I saw it at multiple
shops, made up in new fabrics…it’s a classic!!
Mine is made with taupe Christmas fabrics from Robert Kaufman. Oh,
notice the FMQ in the sashing….I love my Ribbon Candy
rulers from Amanda Murphy…I’ll be demonstrating these rulers next month at
TT&T (and its Sept 21, not 28 this month).
Announcement:
Does
your guild have pipes and drapes that you no longer use? Seaside Piecemakers is looking to buy more
pipes and drapes for our 2026 show. Call
Eleanor Moland 407-702-9144 or Eleanor@eleanormoland.com
Announcement #2:
Miles of Pillowcase Smiles, is Ryan’s Case for Smiles
(caseforsmiles.org) signature sewing
event each year, and is held in September to coincide with National Childhood
Cancer Awareness month. Each year, approximately 40,000 children are in cancer
treatment across the country. Our goal throughout September is to create 40,000
pillowcases, striving to deliver one pillowcase for each child in treatment.
Florida has chapters in Ft Myers, Jacksonville/Daytona, Orlando, Miami, Palm
Beach, and Tampa. To contact a chapter go to: caseforsmiles.org/florida. Please go to each chapter to see where you
can drop off your pillowcases, find a charity sew day, etc. near you or help in
other ways.
(No
flannel, glitter or metallic fabrics and fun whimsical kid centric fabric for
3- to 18-year-olds).

Announcement #3:
I
continue to match up charity sewists with people who are looking to off-load
their loved ones' fabric, machines, notions, etc. (In fact, tomorrow I’m picking up 2 sewing
machines and a few boxes of yarn, and will find good
local homes for all of that.) All of
that to say: if you are a charity sewist
in Central Florida and would like to be the recipient of some of this largess,
please let me know, I keep a list!
PS: if you're in the market for
a machine but the two highlighted below don't work for you, keep reading for
the "Still Available" section, where I
quick-list previous ads.
Happy Quilting,
Mary-Jeanine
PS: I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a line sometime.

QUILT
SHOW IN JACKSONVILLE
QuiltfestJax, September 19, 20 and/or 21, 9-5
daily: Tickets are easier than ever to purchase for the show. Last
year buying a ticket at the Prime was a very slow process; so
this year we have worked hard to ensure there is no repeat of that
experience. We now have increased the opportunity to pre-purchase
tickets, making it as easy as possible to walk right in (with a security check,
however inevitable that is these days). A ticket is valid whichever day you
choose to attend, so you don't have to guess which day will be best for
you. Senior discounts are valid every day, not just Thursday, as
well. We encourage you to get a few tickets to bring a new friend or
family member. And Children under 12 are free. Veterans still must show
ID at the ticket booth, however.
